It has been a long time since we have had a new baby in the 'family' to knit for. So I had a great time putting together a package for the Little Viking - Emily and Karl's new baby. Digging through the stash and sorting buttons.
I have wanted to make the Aviatrix Hat since the first time I saw it. It will not be the last. If I can only think of an adult who would wear one (Christina).
Couldn't resist this little Seattle onesie at the Folk Life festival this year. It's good to remind Emily of home.
The perennial favorite - Baby Surprise Jacket. The Regia heavy weight sock yarn holds up really well to multiple washing and Kaffe Fasset has a way with color.
Garter Yolk Baby Cardi is new to me. Love the colors.
When I saw this wrap on the Purl Bee I knew that I would want to use the idea to make a baby blanket one day. My mom made so many flannel blankets as gifts over the years. Two square pieces of flannel (as close to 36" as possible, perfectly trued), sewn right sides together, turned with a large zig zag stitch all around. Or a single square with blanket stitch. I still have some that she made for me and my brothers. I always preferred the square blanket to the oblong swaddling blankets - they were useful for many years. This heavy flannel and cone of yellow yarn have been marinating for too long.
Every gift needs a few matching pom poms!
The heat wave in Malmo had better break soon - before the Little Viking outgrows everything.
